What a waste of money and time, If I had known that my journey to Kano would be fruitless I wouldn’t have gone there but at least I know who’s behind all killings and form where I’m standing this investigation is out of my league.
It’s been 24hrs since I came back to Abuja and I hadn’t had the time to rest or relax. After having a few hours of sleep, I resumed work the next day and wasted no time in telling Garba what I just found out in Kano. Later that evening in the police headquarters, Garba and I sat and discussed in my office about how we were going to handle this investigation.

Garba ➡ This is unbelievable. So you’re saying the Govt is behind this?

Ijeoma ➡ Not the entire govt. A private sector in the govt is funding this secret organisation. If we keep working on this case I’m afraid our ending won’t be pretty.

Garba ➡ So what do we tell the captain? I’m certain he’ll not believe your story.

Ijeoma ➡ I won’t tell me anything.

Garba ➡ But he expects results.

Ijeoma ➡ Then we’ll tell him that we haven’t found anything.

Garba ➡ So what do we do now? Do we drop the case?

Ijeoma ➡ I really don’t know. I’m just confused now.

In that moment, Garba and I heard a commotion coming from outside and we decided to check what was going on. As soon as we came out of the office, we saw some officers dragging a young man into the station as if he was some kind of animal . The guy was bruised and barely conscious but the officers didn’t care to bother about his condition, they just dragged him and locked him up in a cell. Curiosity got hold of me that I decided to ask one of the police men that dragged the guy in about the situation.

Ijeoma ➡ Frank, who’s that guy?

Frank ➡ Just some lowlife, that’s all.

Ijeoma ➡ Ah-ah, what did he do? Did he do something bad?

Frank ➡ He assaulted a woman.

Garba ➡ Assaulted her?
.
Frank ➡ Yes, I wish we could have dealt with him more. This isn’t over.

Ijeoma ➡ God! But still you guys went too far.. He should have been forced to pay a fine.

Frank ➡ That’s not your concern. We did what we were asked to do. Excuse me. (leaves)

As Garba left and headed to the water dispenser, I got a call from my husband-to-be, which I didn’t hesitate to answer.

Mike ➡ I’m fine sugar, How’s the police work?

Ijeoma ➡ Exhausting as always.

Mike ➡ I told you to take a rest from your trip but you didn’t listen.

Ijeoma ➡ You know that I can’t stay put in one place for long. So what plans do you have for us this evening?

Mike ➡ Well, I was hoping we could make love tonight. It’s been a while since we did it.

Ijeoma ➡ You sly devil.. I know what you’re planning. (laughs)

I didn’t mean to ignore Mike but there was something that caught my attention. At that very moment as I was talking with Mike, a weird looking but foxy lady came into the station smiling like a psycho. There was something evil about her and I wasn’t comfortable with her presence.

After I ended the call, Garba approached me with a cup of water and handed it to me. As soon as I poured the H2° into my throat, I told Garba about the lady that just walked in.

Garba ➡ What lady?

Ijeoma ➡ The one standing by door.

Garba ➡ Hmm, she’s stunning.

Ijeoma ➡ Apart from that. Doesn’t she look weird to you?

Garba ➡ No.. Maybe she’s here to see some one.

Ijeoma ➡ I doubt so. I’m going to check her out.
